Sacred Words

A performance art collective production based upon the ideals of peoples prayers , wishes , and hopes.

Explained in the languages of Contemporary Dance , Circus Arts , Film , Photography , Spoken word and Installation Art.

*Can different people share a common hope ? Can these hopes connect them ? ... we need to find out . We see this as a symbolic gesture which attempts to unite where there is division , to make peace where the only urge is to isolate .

We have observed suffering take place around our world and have (together with several fellow artists )created a photo journal of it. Our intentions are to distribute our photographs to as many people as we can reach , and request for them to hand write their prayer , or hope for the subject of the photograph . We intend to create short film based on this process .

These are pictures of turmoil , hope , the invincible force of nature and the indomitable spirit of those who manage to carry on with their lives.Each picture becomes a prayer , each prayer , a gift . Each donated thought , word , spirituality and feeling , becomes a gift from 'ordinary people' like you and I , to other ordinary men , women and children , which seeks to transcend the confines of location and specific tragedies in effort to become a gift for each person against anything .

 

What and who can symbolize hope ? ... mother to child , child to parent , faith - in family , in friends , in healing , in humanity , in love and freedom....spiritual leaders , forgiveness , learning , teaching , creativity , curiosity , determination , looking inside and outside oneself , human connection , artistic expressions . 

In order for there to be hope , people must acknowledge that there is destruction . We must not become so desensitized , that we observe tragedies as spectators would a movie , as if it were remote from our reality.
